Who I am:
Jonine Bergen is the librarian at St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg. I started out in the classroom and transitioned into the library after my children started school. I loved teaching but I also knew I wanted to do something different and so I completed the Library and Information Technology diploma at Red River College to get up to speed on cataloguing and plunged into the crazy world of high school libraries replete with teenage antics including book dominoes and table ping pong, long over-the-counter chats, and book clubs. Since then I have learned that librarians are made up of one part bookphile, two parts reference expert and research guide, 2 parts teacher, and 6 parts listening ear. I am currently taking my MLIS through San Jose State University. I am also the MYRCA treasurer, reviewer for CM Canadian Materials, and part of the fledgingly Association of Independent Manitoba School Libraries.
